Question of the Week/What if…..
I wanted to do something different this week, wanted to see how people would respond to various questions and what they thought about different topics….We’ve all gotten those emails “which do you prefer; coke or pepsi” and I hate those. But I did want to get people thinking about things “like that” but just on a deeper level.
Maybe you’ve thought of these things, maybe you haven’t….either way, try to be as sincere and honest as you can. Also, answer each question individually, not paired with the others. Thanks.
you didn’t have to go to work tomorrow (and get paid), what would you do with your day?
your best friend stopped being your best friend….for no reason
you went home tonight and found your dwelling completely destroyed by an act of God
you found a lotto ticket worth 100 million on the street (be real and detailed with this answer)
you had the ability/opportunity to pursue your dream without anything holding you back (time, people, capitol, etc) but had to drop everything right now and do it, would you?
you were given the opportunity to change one moment in history (yours or anyone else’s), what would it be and why?
you were given the chance to see the person you were put on this earth to love, but had to give up what you value most for just the opportunity to “see” them (note: see, not interact/talk)
you could only listen to one song on your radio/digital music device for 30days, what would it be?
you were given $1000 (post tax) per week for the rest of your life (in addition to your supplemental income), what would you do with it?
you had to live your life over again up until this point….what would you change? (toughest one)

1. well this is akward, cosidering i don’t have a job right now. but if that would to happen, i wouldn’t do much. i would just enjoy my day off. if i had to run errand or something i would do it. if i had more than one friend i would meet up and hang out. would just relax.
2. ok, i would be pissed. we have been best friends since elementary.there would have to be a reason and i would really like to know at it was.
3.i would try to recover what i could in my house. and well my husband has two uncles that live here, and since we helped them out by letting them stay in our house i’m sure they wouldn’t mind us staying at theirs. i would be devastated, i love my house.
4.ha! would pay off my house, my cars, everyone i owe money too (which is a lot of people.) fix my house up the way i wanted. upgrades and so on. and travel! there are so many places i want to see. invest/save for the future of my family.
5.well if i didn’t have people holding back, then i i really don’t have much to drop. my family is imporatant to me and have to much going on with them. so then i guess the answer is yes, i would.
6.i would change the moment in history where my mom was convinced that my father was a good person. he didn’t do anything for his family and i feel ruined my mothers self esteem and her life basically.horrible person
7.how could it be that you valued anything more than the one you would give everything up for?
8.”Gotas de Agua Dulce” by Juanes. because it makes me think of someone special. : )
9.i know for a fact i wouldn’t be behind on any of my bills. which would make me real happy.
10.i would have pushed myself to do better in high school. i could have given myself the oppurtunity to a good school. i could have had my degree by now. instead i was lazy. i regret that.

May 6th, 2008 at 5:00 pm
whew this is like homework!! But imma try to be short iight??
1. sleep and run errands that I hate doing on weekends. I actually do this about 1once a month.
2. My best friend did stop being my best friend and its funny thing I havent missed a beat yet. but its a sad thing.
3. I hope I had insurance lol
4. 100 million dollar ticket realiticaly I have no idea what would do, but what i think i should do is call 1 lawyer one accountant (not tell them about the money yet) 1 body guard. take the ticket to the cash in place make sure its locked in that its mine now and its on record. Then go to work the like everything is normal and stay there until i figure out wtf just happen.
5. Yep I would drop everything because you only live once!! bye bye job!! hello life!!
6. If i could change something in history the first thing that came to mind was the day my mom had an abortion for her first child. I just wonder what would have happen had she not (outside of the obvious lol)
7. if i can just see them whats the point lol I im not giving up ish!

Nothing, because like my “about me” section says I live and I grow every day. Everything that happens makes me a stronger person so I value the good the bad and ugly of it all.
thank you and goodnight

If I didn’t have to go to work tomorrow I would do whatever I wanted. I wouldn’t plan a thing. I would probably just relax, take a long, hot bath with lots of bubbles and a good book.
If my best friend stopped being my best friend for no reason, I’d either find a new best friend or my “best friend runner-up” would take first place as best friend. The world is way too big to pout over one itsy bitsy friend that may not have been as much of a friend as you thought.
If I came home and found my home had been destroyed by an act of God, I would call my insurance company and plan a heck of a shopping trip. I would be saddened by the loss of things like pictures but everything else can be replaced.
I’d be cashing that ticket in and first I’d pay off every single bill I owe. Then, I’d take some time off work. I’d make a nice down payment on a house and buy my dream Mercedes. After that I’d put a ton of money away. For those that would have their hands stuck out, I would allocate a certain amount for helping and “loaning” and once that amount was gone, that’s it. I would keep working and try to keep my life as normal as possible just because I don’t want to be like those people that win the lotto and end up more broke than they were before they won the lottery.
If I had the opportunity to do pursue my dream without anything holding me back, I would love to say that I would jump on it in a heartbeat. However, the reality is that I would likely be paralyzed by fear of failing and would either not do it or wait until the last possible moment to pursue it (I really hated to admit that).
If I could change one moment in history, I would not have listened to my grandmother and went to NC A&T like I wanted to. I didn’t even apply to a 4-year school because of her. Her excuse was that we only had one car (it’s 90 minutes away). I’ve been kicking myself for listening to that garbage for more than a decade.
A chance to basically VIEW the person I was meant to love in exchange for the thing I value most? No deal.
30 days – one song. Piano in the Dark by Brenda Russell.
$1,000 tax free? First purchase, a pair of Jimmy Choos or Manolos. Then that $1,000 would be my play money after I got my debt to what I consider a reasonable level.
If I had to live my life again, I would not have spent so much time caring what people thought of me. I wasted too much time caring and life is so much better when you’re not trying to please the masses or wanting them to agree with your decisions.
May 8th, 2008 at 2:23 pm
1. As long as I didn’t have any errands to do, I would relax and enjoy some sleep.
2. I would be devastated because I tell her everything, but then again maybe she’s not a true best friend if she stopped being my best friend for no reason.
3. That would suck, hopefully the insurance would cover some of the damage, but if that didn’t then I would go over to my relative’s house.
4. If I found a 100 million dollar lotto ticket, I would have to pinch myself to see if I was dreaming. I would literally probably give half of the money to my parents and sister ($50 million), so that they could pay bills, buy a house, cars, and travel like they always wanted to. With my half I would pay the bills, and then move out and buy myself a house, car, and do some traveling.
5. Yes, I would drop everything to pursue my dreams.
6. I would change my mom’s life. It would be the day she made the toughest decision in her life when she sent her son to live with his dad (long story to why she did it). I always wondered how life would have been if I had an older brother.
7. I’m not sure with this one. I don’t think I would be able to give up what I most valued for the opportunity of only “seeing” this loved one.
8. “Dreaming of You” by Selena
9. The extra money would help pay the bills and if I had money left over I would save it in hopes to purchase a house later in life.
10. I would change the fact that I let some people “control” me because I’m the nice person. I would let them know from the beginning that because I’m nice it doesn’t mean that they can take advantage of that situation or me.
May 8th, 2008 at 2:27 pm
you didn’t have to go to work tomorrow (and get paid), what would you do with your day?
uhhh sleep in, eat, hang out with friends, spend time with God….
your best friend stopped being your best friend….for no reason.
well i guess they weren’t my best friend then….or if it was because of something i did i would go back to them and make things right.
you went home tonight and found your dwelling completely destroyed by an act of God….
I guess i would cry and ask God why….then i would leave it in his hands (knowing God has a divine plan for my life) and everything happens for a reason.
you found a lotto ticket worth 100 million on the street (be real and detailed with this answer)
Well i would get a new house for my family and I…Buy a working vehicle for everyone in the family. Invest in it and ask God what I should be doing with the money.
you had the ability/opportunity to pursue your dream without anything holding you back (time, people, capitol, etc) but had to drop everything right now and do it, would you?
If thats what God said to do then, heck yeah, i would do it.
you were given the opportunity to change one moment in history (yours or anyone else’s), what would it be and why?
When prayer and the bible were taken out of the school system….Because crime rates are at its peak in America, since no morals are being taught in the public schools!
you were given the chance to see the person you were put on this earth to love, but had to give up what you value most for just the opportunity to “see” them (note: see, not interact/talk)
yes….
you could only listen to one song on your radio/digital music device for 30days, what would it be?
lol idk umm….i’d listen to myself sing instead
you were given $1000 (post tax) per week for the rest of your life (in addition to your supplemental income), what would you do with it?
use it for youth outreaches or for evangelistic purposes…
you had to live your life over again up until this point….what would you change? (toughest one)
I would say that for most of it i wouldn’t change anything…..but if i could redo something it would be to have never lied to my parents and friends, and just to have been open and honest with them. But everything happens for a reason, and God uses stuff in peoples lives as examples to others who are going through similar situations. We’re never perfect only God is!!
May 9th, 2008 at 2:33 pm
you didn’t have to go to work tomorrow (and get paid), what would you do with your day?
1- hmmmmm….. Ok So I am going to be real and tell you what came to my mind first. I would sleep in, call my friends, go see my godson, cook a lovely huge dinner and invite someone over to share it.
your best friend stopped being your best friend….for no reason
2 - I would pray and ask God to help me not to feel so rejected and depressed and then move on. My destiny is not tied to anyone who left! I can’t change them, only pray for them and keep it moving. Dwelling on it, would only make me angry.
you went home tonight and found your dwelling completely destroyed by an act of God
3 - WHOA! Well, God doesn’t do those things, he allows them to happen. And as sad as I would be, I would be thankful that at least my car is still in-tact and I have my other personal stuff in storage. So I wouldn’t like have lost EVERYTHING, just a little something. Sorry, but I have to be real and tell the truth!
you found a lotto ticket worth 100 million on the street (be real and detailed with this answer)
4 - I wouldn’t go public and I wouldn’t tell anyone that I had the money, for fear of assaination and long-lost relatives. I would lie and say that recieved the money …………………………………………….. I can’t tell you the lie, because then you would know and you may kill me B.Price. Not to mention, I would only have like 55 million after taxes, so I couldn’t go crazy.
So anyways, I would then pay all of my bills and outstanding credits. I would pay all of my Mother’s bills and outstanding credits. I would give my brother $1 million, so that he could buy what he wanted and pay off what he needed to and some of the money would be in the form of a scholarship, so he could go back to school. I would give my mother a $1 so she could just do whatever she wanted.
Balance a little less than 53 million or so……
Then I would buy myself, my mom and my brother a home. Not a house, but a home. A home for them individually, of their choosing, whereever it may be in the Washington, DC metro area (at most 45 miles outside of DC). I would let them decorate it and furnish it according to their choosing. Money would not be a big issue and they could be as lavish as they desired. I would however, tell them that they had to keep it under 1.5 million. My name is not Bill Gates!
Balance a little less than 46 million or so
I would then set-up a trust fund, for all my godchildren and children that are special to me. I would open up all of the businessess that I have wanted to start. My personalized services concierge, eclectic restaurant, hair/nail/body spa and youth educational mentor center.
Balance a little more than 32 million or so
And while, all of my businesses were being built and all, I would go to a Fat Camp and lose this weight and get healthy or have one set-up in my house. I would also give my mom $1mil to fund her non-profit. And I would write out my will with control given only to specific people. And I would travel to all the places that I wanted to go before I officially launched all my businessess…
Balance a little more than 29 million or so
I don’t know if I should tithe or not, but I would donate a HUGE sum to my church McLean Bible! I would also donate to other ministries that have blessed me in the area. So either way, I would make sure God got true glory!
Balance a little more than 19 million or so
And finally, I would invest my money (what was left of it anyways) heavily overseas and quit my job! And no I would not buy a new car and I would not buy a whole NEW wardrobe. I would add to what I had and maintain what I got, because then people would figure it out. I might get a few extra things, but I want to live and not die!
you had the ability/opportunity to pursue your dream without anything holding you back (time, people, capitol, etc) but had to drop everything right now and do it, would you?
5 - YES! Absolutely! Not even a question. But can I just post a quick bulletin on myspace first! LOL!
you were given the opportunity to change one moment in history (yours or anyone else’s), what would it be and why?
6 - MINE! ME! I would change Jan of 1997. That’s when I just did some really stupid stuff and those events would have made me better.
you were given the chance to see the person you were put on this earth to love, but had to give up what you value most for just the opportunity to “see” them (note: see, not interact/talk)
7 - No I wouldn’t see them. I would just wait because I can’t give up what I value the most.
you could only listen to one song on your radio/digital music device for 30days, what would it be?
8 - Whitney Houston — I will always Love you
you were given $1000 (post tax) per week for the rest of your life (in addition to your supplemental income), what would you do with it?
9 - I would pay bills with half and save the other half in a high-interest yield account.
you had to live your life over again up until this point….what would you change? (toughest one)
10 - OH LORD! Well not to be too wordy and long-winded, I would change how I have handled all my relationships with men. I wouldn’t have dated or been friends with or been in a relationship with 75% of the men that I know or knew. Yes including Darryl. I would have chosen not to be with him. And I think I would have been better off and married by now, if I hadn’t. And I would have followed my own heart and mind as far as jobs and education went, because I listened to people who I thought knew what was best for me, but I was wrong. And OHHHH I would have buckled down and gotten my license much sooner, But such is life, God knew what was going to happen before I was born, so in some ways, I can’t live my life over again, there is no way, because my destiny was already determined before I was even born.
Ok Mr. Future, there you have it! Read it and applaud me!
May 14th, 2008 at 7:38 am
Umm Mr B?? Imma need you to act like u know us blogger folk and respond!!!
May 14th, 2008 at 4:00 pm
LOL @ 35%
It’s taken me a week just to read them all, I didn’t think so many people would respond and put in so much detail.
May 14th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
Alright, here goes.
@Idalisa: Your situation makes the answers, or at least the reality of these questions different for you. I know what it’s like to be without a job, but never where it wasn’t in my power to pretty much snatch up another one out of a large pile that is pretty much just “available” to me.
Your response to question #6 really took me back….you’d rather you not exist then for your mom to have met your Dad. That’s deep, and very VERY selfless. I applaud you for that.
#7 I’m not understanding quite what you mean….See the thing with the question is you don’t know what you’d have to give up….and you’re giving up you can’t “pick or choose”.
#10 I share in that laziness, i’ll explain that later.
@35%: your answer to #1 was disappointing girl, where’s the “you” time? Going to get your hair done, getting your nails done, getting pampered!
#2 I feel you on this, i’ve had to go thru the same thing with a friend that i’ve known my entire life so i’m there with you. Although it’s been a tough adjustment, but after 25yrs i expected it to be.
#4 was hilarious! And again, we see eye-eye on this. Although i’d strongly consider walking thru my office the next day and telling a few select people You can go to hell! with a big smile on my face.
#9 is deep, that’s a very admirable thing for you to do, most people wouldn’t do that….or at least not the entire $1000
I liked your answers a lot and how you closed it out with a little sass.

@Bae:
#1 Now thats what i’m talking about, get in that personal time, get back to neutral.
#2 I’m not sure if i could ever replace my best friend as easy as you make it seem. It sounds like you got people waiting in the queue to be your BFF. It’s actually quite difficult to “replace” anyone that holds that position IMHO, because given the fact that they do it means that they occupy a unique place that can just be filled by the “next one”
#3 That’s funny with the Mercedes, and having a pot of cash on the side for the folks with their hands out.
#5 Thanks for sharing that. I can’t imagine how that feels to have that that much fear. A big part of life is about failing and how you deal with those failures, how you bounce back, how you recover, how you not repeat those.
#6 I understand that, and had somewhat of the same issue that i’ll share once i’m done with responding to you all’s comments
#7 Interesting your response is, although i’m pretty sure I understand why you responded in that way
#9 great answer
#10 Say Word, amen to that!!!
@La Chica:
#2 I agree with that, and that holds true to i think most of our answers for this question
#4 Half to the folks? Seriously? Did you mean to type that?
#6 I like how people are being so open with this question
#10 That’s very important that you don’t allow anyone to use you as a door mat, or even “run” you.
@Babysis: I love and appreciate your seeking God first with all of your answers, and how in almost every response you are giving back or seeking God’s instruction and guidance in everyone of your scenarios/decisions.
Vic…i’m going to have to take a break and come back to you love, don’t hate me for that ok?
May 16th, 2008 at 10:02 am
Nice follow-up B. And yes, it is ok that you come back to me, as long as I get my props….
June 19th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
you didn’t have to go to work tomorrow (and get paid), what would you do with your day? Sleep in, sit down and rearrange my budget.
your best friend stopped being your best friend….for no reason Know that God has a purpose for that and if they are really true to friendship they will return
you went home tonight and found your dwelling completely destroyed by an act of God I’d be heartbroken
you found a lotto ticket worth 100 million on the street (be real and detailed with this answer) I’d be real cool as I pick it up. Take it home with me, and wait a couple of days to see if I hear anything on the news about ticket. Notice, I said “a couple” of day. Cash it in. The first thing I would do is buy a house in another state and move.
you had the ability/opportunity to pursue your dream without anything holding you back (time, people, capitol, etc) but had to drop everything right now and do it, would you? No, because some of the people in my life are my dream.
you were given the opportunity to change one moment in history (yours or anyone else’s), what would it be and why? The death of Martin Luther King. He’s was such an inspiration in so many African American lives.
you were given the chance to see the person you were put on this earth to love, but had to give up what you value most for just the opportunity to “see” them (note: see, not interact/talk) I rather not “see” them.
you could only listen to one song on your radio/digital music device for 30days, what would it be? Fred Hammond “My Heart Is for You”
you were given $1000 (post tax) per week for the rest of your life (in addition to your supplemental income), what would you do with it? Give up 10%….then start workin on a different budget.
you had to live your life over again up until this point….what would you change? (toughest one) The hurt & pain that I’ve caused others.
June 26th, 2008 at 3:22 pm
1) you didn’t have to go to work tomorrow (and get paid), what would you do with your day?
Find the nearest 4×4 trail and waste a good tank of gas.
2) your best friend stopped being your best friend….for no reason
Friends come, and friends go. I do not bother myself with those who thinks friendship is disposable.
3) you went home tonight and found your dwelling completely destroyed by an act of God
Yay insurance!
4) you found a lotto ticket worth 100 million on the street (be real and detailed with this answer)
I’d claim it, move back home to the islands, and live a good life.
5) you had the ability/opportunity to pursue your dream without anything holding you back (time, people, capitol, etc) but had to drop everything right now and do it, would you?
Yes I would.
6) you were given the opportunity to change one moment in history (yours or anyone else’s), what would it be and why?
I wouldn’t change anything in my past or anyone else’s. What you need to know about the past is that no matter what has happened, it has all worked together to bring you to this very moment. And this is the moment you can choose to make everything new. Right now.
7) you were given the chance to see the person you were put on this earth to love, but had to give up what you value most for just the opportunity to “see” them (note: see, not interact/talk)
I’d rather remember them as I have them imprinted in my memories.
Midnight Train To Georgia - Joan Osborne
9) you were given $1000 (post tax) per week for the rest of your life (in addition to your supplemental income), what would you do with it?
Put it towards my brothers’ college fund.
10) you had to live your life over again up until this point….what would you change? (toughest one)
I accept life for what it is and what it isn’t. I am content with the blessings that’s been bestowed upon me. I would not relive my life and go through the same pains and loves, its ups and its downs, and everything else in between only to change a little something.
July 2nd, 2008 at 9:16 pm
Budda - I’m very impressed with your answers, probably more so then any other response i’ve gotten to these questions yours intrigued me. you seem as though you’ve got a good head on your shoulders, and that you are moving in a good direction in your life.
Most people (present company included) can’t say that they wouldn’t change anything about their past, especially if they were given the chance to live it again. Your answer to question number 7 is interesting though, very interesting.
July 19th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
1. Hmm I would find the nearest lake or resevoir() with a book and just chill.
2. Tough one.. would bother me for an hour or two, then i’d let it go and wait til they came around.
3. Oh Lawd what?? I’d be devastated and miserable… still.. i’d find that an awesome time to fall on my face, pray and thank God that I was still breathing.
4. I’d run straight to the bank, move out of whatever state the Act of God took place in and pray that God ain’t mad at whatever state i moved to!
5. Yes!
6. I would have been able to somehow metaphysically tell my mother to ask God to not predispose me to make decisions to quickly without thought first. HABIT
7. that would be great.. i bet i wouldn’t be able to speak at that time too.. Gah! I’d just admire them.
8. I’d spend on car notes and spend the rest on the kids
10. i feel that i’m doing what i was meant to do in this life..being a mother
